Fear, Courage, Loneliness, Abandonment, Frustration, Selfishness, Hatred, Love, a Questioning Sexuality, Apathy, Perception - all bluntly present in a short film with no beginning and no end. The Foundation and the Results were up to me; and they came easily in the form of judgements on some, advice for others. As conflicting as it may seem, I felt empathy for all…….. except one.
About me
1940's - leading edge "Boomer". A clean sheet of paper for the never ending story. Branded by an aluminum angel.1950's - bullied by kindergarten teacher. "Capable of doing better." Richard and the tingling. Underobserved and overprotected. An answer that defies logic. An inconvenient discovery. Dog paddling and my first kiss at day camp. Two summers of sleeping with the boys.
1960's - Last year of summer camp. First year of high school. Two years as a sophomore; first year as a PIT. Broke the faith. Military age. Navy, baby. Vietnam; two tours, four campaigns. VA85, VP10, first solo.
1970's - Above the clouds. Living a dream. Maine to California in a Beetle pulling a travel trailer. SUBDEVGRU 1. Skylark Gliderport. Once in a lifetime cross country x-country via Oshkosh '77 in an Aeronca Champ. USS Ranger. Broken service. Newbie truck driver.
1980's - Burned out driver. Renewed sailor. New job; ATC. New station; NAF El Centro. Blue Angles; best view in the house. Cessna 120. CATCC School. A late in life discovery. Making up for lost teenage years. USS Constellation. "Piped" off the starboard bow cat. Dad goes "West". Airport Bum. Part time jobs. New to the scene.
1990's - Decade of the "tanker yanker". Hauling gas. NGPA. Parental caretaker. Condo dweller. All work and no sleep. SOCAL stress.
2000's - Albuquerque and the glider snobs. A lost love returns. Mom goes "West". On the right side of the "bubble". Downsized. No debt. No stress. Early "retirement". Out of SOCAL to the Pacific Northwest. Got a boat. Lost my shirt. "un"-retire. Back to "yanking tankers". Cessna 150. Getting old. Spirit - willing, Flesh - weak. Professional entitlement moocher. Canal du Midi. Sport pilot. Swapping airplanes. Quad City Challenger II.
2010's - Need to work, but my body says "no". "If you don't stop, away I will go." Now officially retired, but work "on call". In this crappy economy we're taking the fall. I sit all day and count my pennies, while the Republicans want to take our "bennys". And so I live life with its happiness and sorrow, in hopes that I will wake up to see another tomorrow. - - - Peace <3
